Uh oh - I've always been like that - can eat as little or as much as I like and my weight never changes - of late I've been eating more and more than usual - doesn't sound good...

Tho I found the exhausted feeling I was getting was due to a lack of vitamin C - taken to drinking 200ml a day of OJ w/ a good vit C quantity and its completely gone.

Funny Rroff, you just have a good metabolism. I have always been like that also, but it had nothing to do with this.

Take care of yourself, my friend. I will be here if you need me for anything - just pm me or call me anytime if you still have my number.
It sounds like the doctors are on the right track to getting you on the road to recovery.
BTW, my 36 year old Daughter has had problems with her thyroid since childhood. Luckily, she keeps it under control with medication, but it has been no picnic for her for sure, so I have a little idea what you have been going through.

!sad

Thanks guys. Good to see you still around here sumo,I posted on your abandonned myspace a while back....and its still abandoned.haha. But you are right, this is a tough one,but the meds have been doing wonders as far as how I feel.

Nick(spyder),I still have your number in my old phone if I can find it(the phone),email me your numbers again if you would. Its a ways away yet,but I plan on haveing a pretty big 40th bday bash at my house in April, and you will be invited. The house warming party never took place,so dont think you were left out. I'll keep you in mind for the seafood boil.
Also,I had to quit the selfemployment thing, and am now working up towards your house, maybe hook up for lunch sometime. I'll send you my ady

Thanks to all for the good wishes !

Just an update...

The meds are working well,I am now hypo,so I am gaining my weight back.Up to 164lbs so far,and its all going back to the muscle mass that I lost,so I am feeling pretty good. But I get tired early now,so I sleep alot more than I used to...which is why you guys dont see me around much.Kinda fell into a wacky sleep patern,I'll go to sleep about 9ish,and wake at 3-4am every night/morning...wierd.

I am however having some sort of alergec reation to the meds, they are giving me hives for about 3 months now,so they are going to change my thyroid meds next week.Another freek thing, not many people have this reaction to these meds...just me and a few others.Hopefully that will go well.

Just wanted to post an update incase anyone was wondering how I was doing, and to let all of my friends here know that I miss the gaming, and miss hanging with you all.

Take care, and thanx again for the prayers and good wishes...

skraggs

skraggy, good to hear that things are doing better for you, and you're health is improving. Keep taking care of yourself, and keep us posted.

Oh, and as far as that sleep pattern... sounds like aging to me! The older I get, the closer I get to those hours of sleep ;)

Good to see you are posting again. I have been very busy with the family, and dealing with helping a neighbor who's father is failing and needs our help.
That is still no excuse for me not getting together with you for lunch or just to visit.
I really don't know what your schedule is, but we should get together soon.
My sleep patterns are going in the opposite direction from yours, now I find I am staying up until about 2 AM playing Q3 or Call of Duty.
Then I get up at between 9 or 10 AM, and I don't get motivated to do anything until about 11 - LOL.
I am trying to get to bed earlier now because I found a shooting range nearby that opens at 9 AM and closes at 1 PM during the week.
I have been going to gun shows with a neighbor, and I have been working on some of my old vintage rifles, adding two scopes, and doing some other mods to them, and I really need to get up early and go to the range to sight them in.
Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing with the new meds.
And don't forget what I said before.
If there is anything I can do to help you in any way, just let me know.

Hey Skraggy,

Glad to hear you are doing better. I too am hypo now and I'm hoping the meds will get me back to "normal". I pretty much gained back all the weight I had lost - it's just amazing how fast it happened, considering my diet and exercise level stayed the same. I guess the thyroid gland has that big of an impact on our metabolism.

Same thing with respect to sleeping here. I sleep much more than I use to. Before, I was an early riser, always waking up around 5:00 AM. Now, I'm lucky if I can get out of bed before 7:00 AM.

The good news is that I don't experience the shakes and anxiety I used to :)

Another update...

Well, the meds didnt work for me.They were for a while, but I started getting all of the side affects of them, and my TSH levels dropped back to non readable.I have kept on the weight, holding at 173,but have been breaking out in hives for the past 4-5 months.

Saw my specialist the other day,and he gave me the choice of an operation to remove it,or to nuke it as 3NF did. I opt'd to have it nuked, and will have that done in about 2 months.

Oh,well...see what happens when you start getting old :D

Hang in there man. Dont give up. I could not get off my meds, then after being divorced 2 months I stopped the altogether for 4 months. I just took them over Deer Valley as an insurance policy for my vacation.

Getting rid of unnecessary stress has really helped. They just laid off 20 more people, oh well I am still on the payroll with 15 people left and I wont let it stress me out. Not worth it. Reading up on and eating superfoods now.

G/L man
