Hi everyone, been awhile since I posted, but haven't been in front of the computer for awhile. My problem is I treid to download the ET mod, the 258 mb file, my download times out. It starts out fine but then it stops and starts again, then times out. I'm running XP home, I have cable internet, cable modem, D-Link DI-524 router. I'm almost positive that I got the most recent firmware and drivers.I can't seem to download anyhting that is bigger tha 100mb in size.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

how big is your hdd? Is it close to capacity? Try clearing your internet cache and temp folder. Try shutting down your modem and router and computer (the famous endall fixall) then restart the modem...wait for all the lites to synch solid, then turn on the router then the computer.

I'm sure there are probably some settings you can alter as well..I'll look in to it.

This is kinda out of character for cable modem providers - but have you checked with your ISP to see if they have some kind of cap on downloads?

:?

another thing you might try is a download manager that will append the file where you left off....so even if you keep getting cut off, it will resume the download where it left off, instead of restarting from scratch. ;)

My Hdd is an 80 gig, partioned into 3 parts. My main one has 20 gigs on it and has over 4 gigs free.
I'll try the resart tomorrow sometime. Thanks, and I'll let you know how it works out.

Glad you got it working. Out of curiosity, did you have to use the manager, or did it just download the whole file without timing out?

Yes i did use the manager, it still took three different times to get it all, the server din't support restarting downloads from a sved position. Got it to work, that all that matters,
Thanks for all the help !
