Can you believe it's been 10 years since we released the original Burial-Grounds Map Pak? Yah!, me either!!

## Description ##
#################

This map pak is a set of deathmatch maps created specifically for people
who play on the Burial Grounds Q3A Servers. It's a special group of people,
who play with friends for fun. Each map is designed with a 6 - 10 player
load in mind, and definitely not intended for competitive play styles or
mods, such as CPMA (maybe BGMP2? :)).

Each map contains custom texturing, including the new Burial Grounds logo
showcased throughout. There is also a soundtrack for each map, tailored
specifically for these maps. We hope you enjoy the tunes, as we may release
them in MP3 format soon after this pak is released.

This entire pak was created by members of the http://www.burial-grounds.com
community. We felt the best way to make this pak work for it's intended
audience, was to let some of the community participate in it's creation.
So, along with the mappers and musicians, the beta testers were also
selected from Burial Grounds community members. It's really a collective
effort by all of Burial Grounds to get this project where it is today!

We hope you all enjoy our efforts. I believe we have put together a set of
quality deathmatch maps!

That's cool! I still remember how vertical and massive Finko's map was and how JAX's map had so much character and memorable moments.

I need to fire that up this weekend and remember the rest!

All of these maps, from both Map Paks are still available for play on the SPYDERWEB server.

As long as my server is still up and running, they will never be removed.

This is my tribute to all of the good times and fun I had playing at the Burial Grounds OSP server.

I get very few players on the server now, but there are still a few die hard Q3 players who drop in from time to time.

In the past, players from Canada, France, England, Germany, Russia, and a few other European and South American countries have played these maps on SPYDERWEB.

All of the people who made this project happen should be very proud of your accomplishment. In my opinion, they represent the best of the best maps ever released for Quake 3, and I still enjoy playing on them today.

Both Paks can be downloaded from my ftp site at http://spyderweb.clanservers.com/anonymous

SPYDERWEB vanilla Quake 3 server is at 63.211.110.56 port 27960, and SPYDERWEB-2 CPMA v1.48 is at 63.211.105.70 port 27960

Congratulations to all on the tenth anniversary of the release of these great Q3 maps!

Spyder, my now retired former manager is 68 and wouldn't know a CD-Rom player from a coffee cup holder. You do your generation proud!

I have a great advantage over most of my generation.

I worked in data communications in the Washington D.C area for the phone company for 32 years, and I was playing computer games using dial up connections to mainframes well before the IBM PC was invented. This was actually before CRT terminals were invented - lol.

I got to see the progression of technology starting in 1970, installing and repairing the old mechanical teletype machines that communicated at the blazing speed of 100 words per minute, using a 5 level code called Baudot which equates to about 74.2 bits per second, and ending in 2002, with installation and repair of gigabit fiber optic and wired lan equipment, installing and maintaining very large routers, concentrators, T1 and T3 DSU/CSU's, and many other state of the art (for 2002) types of equipment.

My pc experience started with a commodore vic 20, that had 4k of ram that I expanded to 16k. It had a 300 baud modem that I used to access bbs and university databases. My first IBM compatible pc that I built had an intel 286 processor, 1 meg of ram, and a 20 megabyte hard drive, along with a 9600 baud modem, and later one of the first cd rom drives available to the general public. The latest pc that I built is shown here in a post that I made. I also installed for the phone company one of the first IBM pc's, that had no hard drive, just two 5.25 inch floppy drives that held 360k of data each, had 640k of ram, a monochrome monitor, and Microsoft Basic on a rom chip that was embedded on the motherboard.

I did data communications and lan work for the phone company in D.C. for every government agency, including the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, CIA, FBI, NASA, FAA, Defense Dept, Agriculture Dept, Commerce Dept, D.C Mayor's office, Metro Police, Smithsonian, and many embassies.

The last five years of my career was spent in a Laser printer and PC repair shop. We totally refurbished surplus HP and Lexmark laser and ink jet printers, and did the same for HP and Compaq PC's, for redeployment where ever the company had a need for them, and we also provided tech support for field technicians in D.C., MD., VA., West VA., PA., and NJ.

At this time, I also worked overtime at a large phone company data center, helping the technicians do very large infrastructure upgrades, On one job, we pulled in 58 thousand feet of bundled Cat 5 cable, (with 6 cat 5 cables in every large cable we pulled in) under the raised floors in the building. Pulling the cable in was easy compared to terminating all of it on the jack boxes and patch panels to feed the hundreds of PC's that we later installed.

My interest in the latest technology is still there, especially from a hardware aspect, and I try my best to stay current with it, but it is becoming very difficult since I no longer work directly with it, and I have to rely on magazines and the internet.

But I do my best --- when I am not playing games, of course. LOL
