Yeah, I actually saw this a while ago and enjoyed it. If you can look past the gaping holes in the plot, mediocre acting, and the vast liberties they took with the Doom3 storyline, it was pretty a pretty good action flick.

The action sequence in the end from the FPS perspective is classic. Pure cinematic brilliance! Maybe it was the 2 or 3 beers I had prior to watching the movie but when the guy started running around chainsawing faces and blasting ppl thru windows FPS style, my jaw hit the floor. It was worth renting just for this scene.

Yes, the first person perspective shoot em' up was my favorite part too. Had me grinning from ear to ear.

I didn't get to see the entire movie. I'll have to rent it to check out the whole thing. From what I did see, the acting was pretty horrible. Especially the cheesy slimeball character was way overdone.

Oh he gets whacked early in a justifiable way. :D

you should see it man the BFG effects alone are worth it. I saw it in the theater and rented the DVD so my wife could see it.

Moved it to the top of my Netflix queue :)

Also, just bumped up Consipiracy. A bit off topice, but if you're into WWII movies, you have to see it.

I saw this flick at the movies with my wife and grandson. I thought that the plot was sort of an attempt to merge the themes of the Doom, Doom 2, and Doom3 series (monsters teleporting in from hell), and the Quake and Quake 2 series (biological / mechanical mutations and transformations - aka Strogg).
IMHO, I think that it was a pretty good action / horror / sci fi film.
I knew my grandson would like it, since he has played all of the Id games, including the original Wolfenstein 3D.
But I was very surprised when my wife, who is 57, and not a gamer at all, said that she really liked it also. Go figure - (maybe it was watching "The Rock" that got her interested - LOL).
When I see it for sale on DVD, I'll most likely buy a copy of it to add to my collection.

Finally got to see it today. It was OK. No "Aliens" or anything like that. It just seemed to lack the suspense that I expected from it. I still think the acting and the script sucked, lol. The cast seemed like a cookie cutter set of guys for a military squad. The only thing missing was the tough bulldyke chick.

They never really explained what happened at the digsite with their parents. Felt like a good chance to develope the story line, but they never followed through with it.

Special effects were pretty good. Loved the first person effect, especially the Pinky fight ;) And there wasn't enough BFG action either.

I think they did, the parents were responsible for this genetic freak show, they discovered it and used it on all of the humans there.

Err...

It was an escaped prisoner, used for human experiments by
the corporation that started the infection.

The movie was a hack, but it was fun none the less.

O.K., so I am a little late in watching this, but I happened to stumble across a copy of this recently, and with nothing on television tonight I managed to convince my wife to watch it with me. I agree that the BFG and the first few seconds of the first person perspective were pretty good, as were parts of the sound track.

All in all though I have to admit I'm glad I waited and watched it for free (getting the most out of my tax dollars at the local library).

Anyway, it was a nice flashback to remind me of the rest of you 'regulars' here! Hope your having a great, long weekend!
