I put a page up for my ETQW map. No beta yet. Not even close, but figured since it's going to be such a long process, it might be easier for people to just bookmark the page to check for any updates on their own time, instead of me posting every week for the next 3 months.

So do you play with the mega texture or use preexisting?

I'll be creating my own. The texture on the terrain at the moment isn't even a megatexture. It's just a basic concrete texture for placeholder purposes. Megatexture will more than likely be one of the final steps.

There are 3 in beta that I know of.  Comm, Meltdown and Arctic Assault.

You can usually find the beta and work in progress maps here:

Upped a new vid to my WIP page.

Also, a cool looking oriental map being worked on by someone in this thread. I've seen a handful of WiP and Beta maps, but this looks like one of the better ones so far.

It looks so blah outside like fires have been burning and everything is yukky grey  :-\

What is the name of that tune playing in the Strogg Base Interior movie ?

So alpha testing starts next month then ?  :D

You must be talking about the 'snowy' vid. The atmospheres are pretty much just place holders at the moment. I don't think I'll be using anything near that as far as fog goes. It will be a nighttime map however.

Song is called Home, by Dream Theater.

lol at anything coming out next month :p I guess you never know. But I have to build a tunnel, outpost, 2 bridges, strogg base (interior and exterior), some towers for campers..err snipers and a couple forward spawn buildings/placements. The first 4 are about 1/4 done. The Strogg base is basically the work of a Q3 map all on it's own. The scripting is somewhat done concerning objectives, but I have some other tricks I want to add.

Oh yeah...forgot about finishing up the terrain and making a megatexture. Lots of work to do yet.

Naw, I wish. I don't think that's doable w/o a mod being created :( It should be OK though. Think Outskirts type of darkness without so much fog. I haven't gotten to the atmosphere editing part yet, but it won't be so bad that you can't see w/o a flashlight :p

I'm bored as hell at work again (yeah, my job sucks), so here are some more shots that I posted to the ETQW community site yesterday. They're some interior shots from the Strogg Base (final objective zone). They're still a little rough and unfinished, but you get the point.

that's a huge base!

As for your sniper spots....don't make em!  And for that matter make it so that you can't climb up the mountains if there are any, especially with vehicles.

Oh, and no Anansi, add many more turrets spots than "normal" including for offense, and remove the hyperblaster.  That is all thanks.  :)

Few more shots from 3DS. Editworld allows you to export the brush work, so it can be imported into 3DS max. This way you can line your terrain model up with your brushwork (buildings, tunnels, etc.) I was working in 3DS and took some of these renders. It's neat to me, cause I can finally start to see all the pieces fall into place when working on the terrain in Max. Still a long way to go though.
