Post subject:  Map-Center Map Challenge #2

Map-center.com held their 2nd map challenge that ended today. Kinda lame, I think I may have been the only entrant as no one else posted links :( It's a Quake4 map.

Here's my entry:
http://www.digital-disposition.com/down ... inkoq4.zip

at the console type 'map game/mcmc02finkoq4' without the quotes.

yeah, anyway, the challenge was to build a machine using the D3 scripting language - basically any D3 engine game (d3, q4, prey) I always had this idea floating around in my head that was inspired by some of the cool stuff that they did in Prey towards the end of the game. There was a point in the game where you approached a completely empty area and this entire room assembled itself right in front of you in 2 seconds. One of those things I'll never forget. So, I went with that concept for the map challenge, but it's a more exaggerated and prolonged version.

I took the step of vidcapping it for youtube for all you lazy S.o.B's again ;) Here's the link for that. It really is more fun to play the map though :)

That's awesome man, nice job!

Too bad there were not a lot of entries for that contest, it looks like it could have produced some real cool maps.

That was very good to say the least.

Great job. I hope you win something for your efforts.

Can't wait to see it in the game.

Thanks guys :)

Unfortunately, there are no prizes for this. It was just a Challenge to get people to do something new or work in a direction they normally wouldn't have thought of.

I bet there would have been more entries if there was a nice vid card waiting at the end.
