Post subject:  Map-Center Map Challenge

Map-Center.com held a [link=http://www.map-center.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=927]mappers challenge[/link] last week. They gave us 1 week to make a map that utilized only curves or patch meshes in a Q3 engine game. For the non-mapper, that basically means no blocky type of architecture. The map is more of a showcase item than anything. The challenges are there to get you thinking in new ways and hopefully you'll improve your skills and learn something along the way.

Sadly, only 2 entries were submitted :( Striker made an entry, as did I. You can d/l the pak[link=http://files.filefront.com/mc_mc01zip/;7690007;/fileinfo.html]here[/link].
Striker's map is playable with weapons and Bot AI. But like I said, these are more showcase type of maps. No actual beta testing or tweaking occurred as we only had a week to do it.

Mapnames are as follows:

Mine: mc-mc01-finko-q3a
Strikers: mc-mc01-striker-q3a

1 minute youtube vid of my map here if you're too lazy to d/l and play it yourself :)

Nice work dude... the thing I like is that your maps are usually a lot more blocky, so I bet this was a good challenge even just for you. I definitely like what you did and hope to see some more of these curves in more of your maps ;)

Have you done anything in Unreal Engine lately?

Glad you're keeping your skills up.

You should win, the only thing I found wrong with your map was a texture on a curve that looked scrunched or not scaled properly. His was all HOM at the top...yuk!

The challenges are really contests. They're pretty much "Here is an idea and try to pull it off". So, no winners or losers. I never got into the whole competitive deal with mapping anyway.

I got that HOM on his map when I played it too. Wasn't sure if it was my system or what. Oh well.
