I don't like Xfire (for searching games) and EYE only see's like 400 Q3 servers... can anyone point me to the latest greatest server browser?

Just out of curiosity Sly, what don't you like about Xfire?

One of my favorite tools in years gone by was Pingtool, for Quake 2. It's no longer supported, but it was a fast, clean, simple, free program with no advertising.

The earlier versions of Gamepsy worked well also, but the web-based Gamespy Arcade version always felt like an AOL product... you had to wade your way through all the ad's to get what you really wanted.

I'd be curious to see what other app's anyone else might be using, also.

I'm still using EYE most of the time. On the rare occasions that I want to play Q4, I either go to mile high or r4iled, so I don't really need full-blown q4 support. Xfire's pretty to look at but seems to be lacking in functionality (mainly the ability to browse by gametype/mod ala the tree view in EYE). To be fair, I've hardly used Xfire at all... the real deal breaker for me is that the only QW client it supports is glqwcl.

PS, my EYE only sees 14 Q4 servers. %-6

I hear good things about KQuery. I dont use it much, so I cant really vouch for it (Xfire and EYE suit my needs adequately) but a lot of people I know really love it.

Yes... I use Xfire. I am Slyster777.

I used it last night to find some games... but I don't like it. You can't sort things like you can in EYE. just FFA/OSP etc. You just get the one LOOOONG list. I know you CAN filter by one variable. But I just LOVE the EYE folders... all the mods... but only 400 servers show up and I have like 1800 or something in Xfire.

EYE is the best broswer I've ever seen.. but it's just simply broken these days. Only 400 Q3 servers. Where are the other 1400?

I use ASE and Xfire together.
Xfire to communicate and ASE to join games.
They work pretty well together as Xfire chnages to game mode even though you connect from ASE.

I only play on a half dozen or so q3 servers and they all show up in ase, so I'll stick with it for a while.

nothing but good things to say about xfire. if someone is on your list, you rt click them, join their server. stay in a server for two minutes and it shows up on your recently visited list. from there rt-clicking adds it to favorites. not only can you have a favs list but your friends favorites list. not to mention it has essentially replaced any i.m. program i would consider using.

Yea I miss Pingtool, but I do like X-Fire, seems like any new ones that come up are web based and use .NET 2.0.

Pingtool was the best - shame it went the way of the dodo :(

I use ASE and see 1000s of Q3 servers (about 4000 total) and about 600 OSP - if your asking about OSP then thats why your not seeing 1500+ they just don't exist any more.

It is what I went to since Yahoo! killed ASE.
You can make your own filters or goto the forums and d/l from other users.
You need to also d/l lvlshots if you want them or make your own.
The filters are easy and fun.
Search some servers for the games you play, then double click on one to view players, scores and settings.
Right click on the setting you want as a filter, name it or if you want the opposite click on logic tab and change it. Most times just changing a 0 to a 1.
You can make filters for all your games or just game specific, it is all up to you.
It is like ASE but you get to customize it to what you want to filter.
It is way easier to make a filter with qtracker than with x-fire.
I have more fun making filters than playing games !amazed
It is free also.
Need any filters let me know, I hook you up SLY ! !spy

Dude are you going to play on all 2400? Probably not right? %-6

This thread is like saying, I don't like Google and I hate Yahoo can anyone tell me what search engines are out there?

Lot's of good suggestions have been made but no game browser is going to bring back the Q3A community to what it once was.

I just want as MANY servers as I can ping in HOPES to get a couple under 100ms. Right now.. out of 1600.. I literally only ping five servers in the upper 90's and the rest all over 100+

SO.... is this the lack of servers? I am beginning to think it's my DSL service.
