We got the Panasonic Viera 50" about 3-4 months ago...and it is badass, along with the HD cable.

Spyder, next time you are at my house, you will notice a big difference in my livingroom  8)

Nice. Pannys are the best bang for the buck. Amazing picture.

I have the 58 and two 42 Viera's . Love them.

What model do you have? 4 speakers or 2?

Not sure which model, I believe the model number is on the back, and I do not feel like moving it.

It has very good sound by itself, then when I kick the surround on, it is totally badass. I took my time doinf the surround also....you can not see one wire.....about 4-5 hours in the attack.

Good games last night BTW,

did you calibrate your set yet? You can either use the DVE or Avia DVD or pay an ISF cert tech. It makes a nice difference.

I have to agree with bunker, Pioneer and Panasonic make the best plasmas. I have a 42" Panasonic TH-42px60u.

For bluray playback I purchased an LG bluray/hd-dvd rom drive and popped it in my home theater pc. They cost about $200.

The best plasmas are made by Runco. You wont find them in your local best buy though. http://www.runco.com/plasma.html They have a 103" plasma that is pretty sweet. ;) http://www.runco.com/xp-103dhd.html Oh, and if you want the highest of high end projectors, they have those too. We installed a $250,000 Runco 1080p projector for a customer last year. It was the size of a small compact car, but the picture quality was amazing. Very high quality 1080p picture even in a very bright lit room. This is the baby sister of the model we installed http://www.aboutprojectors.com/Runco-VX ... ector.html It comes in at a measly $100,000 msrp. Oh, and if you plan on getting one of those, make sure you get the right screen, by Runco of course... http://www.runco.com/xscreen_specs.html

Also, no high end home theater should be without a Kaleidescape. Basic systems start around $15,000 - $30,000. We put them in nearly all the home's we work in once we get a chance to demo it for the customer. Obviously, you're not going to find this in Best Buy either...so, check the list for authorized dealers. We are the only authorized Kaleidescape and Runco dealer in New Hampshire.

Hmm, I never heard of Runco. I'll have to search my AVS forum.
Here is their high end sub forum:

Sounds like chaos is doing some high end home theater installations. What kind of audio equipment does your company sell to go along with those fancy projectors?

I found some talk of Runco in this post.
I still did not find any reviews on their plasma line...

rhogue, most of the speakers are very high end, I'm not sure of exact brands, but most cost more then my car, and my house, and pretty much everything else. I remember bringing a pair of speakers to the house that has that 250k runco projector, they were over 100k each. I typically don't install speakers, so not sure off hand.

bunker, Runco's are sold and installed by authorized dealers only. They are way over priced imo, but they are some of the best plasmas in the industry asfaik. We typically install them in very large mansions, usually houses that are 15 - 20k sq/ft. or more. We installed something like 40 of them in a 40k sq/ft house in Weston, MA with that Runco projector. That was an insane job for sure. :)

Nice. Then you come home to your TV and go..WTF!
That's really cool you get to handle all that expensive equipment.

yah, it's funny...I'm not even a real fan of plasma or lcd. I think the picture quality on a DLP is better. But, I certainly do wish I could take home one of those Kaleidescapes! :) My xbox media center comes as close as I'll ever get to that though.

You think DLP has a nicer picture?? You must mean the 3 chip DLP, not the consumer one sold in stores.
DLP's have horrible ghosting/rainbow effects and if you are not starring directly at the screen the picture dims badly. Their angle vision is horrible, BUT you get more real estate for the same dollar.
