First quake maps were made with graph paper, a calculator and a text editor :o

Not by me though.... I waited for a real editor to come out, lol.

Nothing beat that true 3D feeling of Quake and then OpenGL hit the scene...holy sheet :D Oh yeah...internet deathmatch..boyah. I was getting schooled by college kids on ISDN lines and me on a 28K AOL dialup connection.

IIRC it is 19 years to the day since I first fired up Quake 2 (leak or test version) for some reason stands out more for me than the original game.

Rroff I think Quake2 was a better game as well, too bad the sequel in that universe wasn't made by iD and kind of missed the mark.

Yeah Quake 4 wasn't a bad game in its own right but never did it for me as a follow up to Quake 2. Rumours there might be another one coming after Quake Champions is done and dusted.
