Post subject:  Update on my gaming

Hey everyone:

Hope all are well.

I am now part of a clan consisting of some older gamers. Most are in their 50's and 60's. The youngest so far is in his 40's.

The games of choice for the clan are Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare and Battlefield 3.

I am providing the Battlefield 3 server for the clan. The Call of Duty 4 and Teamspeak servers are supported through clan pay by member donations.

Our website is hosted by one of our members who has a business site, and was an IT specialist, before he started his own business. He has contributed more to keeping our clan going than anyone else.

We are different in some ways than other clans, in that we have set rules concerning gameplay restrictions, and a code of ethics to restrict the use of bad language, and we demand that all players show respect to all other players. All members vote on any issues that affect the clan as a whole, and all members are given admin rights that enable them to kick or ban players who are not following the rules as voted on.

So far, it has worked out very well, probably since all of the present members are mature and responsible people.

http://www.shadowrecongroup.com
ts55.gameservers.com port 9132 - 64.154.38.226:9132 - Teamspeak 3 server.
8.6.74.101:28960 - COD 4 v1.7 server.
Shadow Recon Group - 173.199.103.18:25200 - BF3 server.

We have members from all areas of the USA, and other members from Canada, England, and Malta.

We have seen players who are not in our clan join both of our servers from many other countries, such as Canada, England, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, France, Belgium, New Zealand, Lithuania, Poland, Brazil, and Japan.

BTW, my Q3 servers are still up and running, and about a month ago, I played a few rounds with t3ch and a few others, and I still see a little activity on them. Just enough to persuade me to keep them going for old times sake.

I would like to hear from anyone here as to what you have been up to, also. I come here most every day.

Anyone here is welcome to play on our servers, register on our website, or drop in on teamspeak. Just mention my game name, and you should receive a warm welcome.

Thats cool spyder......clan play can be fun. To me,it made the whole gaming experience that much better. Don't know if you remember me telling you,but q3 was out for a couple years before I started playing. I used to go over to my brothers and watch him play for hours before i getting into the game. It was not too long after I was playing that I was asked to join OCI,which I gladly accepted. That clan was similar to what you explained,a bunch of very cool, mature people. Maybe a few were not so nice, but they were disposed of after showing thier true colors. But all in all,it was a blast staying up all hours of the night on irc or our game servers and TS playing.

Unfortunatly,I do not play any of the games that you mentioned,so you will not see me on your servers. I do jump on your q3 servers every once in a while and run around waiting for someone to jump on. But I guess no one is on when I am,so I end up just running around changing maps, and playing around doing tricks on different maps for a while.

I still do not have my desktop back at the house yet, still over at my moms house. I have to get her set up with a computor for her to play on before taking mine back I guess. I would feel bad just taking mine back and leaving her with nothing to play her games on...since I am the one that finally got her into getting on the internet. I tried for years to get her on,and she had no interest until I moved back in with her for a few months. Once I get my machine back to my house, you will see me on alot more often.

BTW....all of that construction up by your house sucks ! I got a $452 speeding ticket right by your house about a month ago. 18 over in a construction zone. No workers present, and I was just going with the flow of traffic. I guess since I drive a sport truck, they singled me out.

Good to see you are having fun playing in a clan....hang with it,it is a blast. Maybe once I get my rig back here,we can get on TS and play some.

Later bud !!!

Hey Skraggy:

At least two of our members are playing COD4 Modern Warfare on laptops.

Our server for Call of Duty has no mods on it, and all of the standard maps from the original game, plus 4 or 5 additional maps that were included for free with the 1.7 update.

You can get COD4 (the 1.6 version, I think) pretty cheap on Steam, and probably at Gamestop or Best Buy. The 1.6 to 1.7 update is free to download still at many gaming sites, and the game runs very well on most modern laptops.

I am sure it would run VERY well on your other PC, also.

We also have a Quake channel on our Teamspeak 3 server. So if you want to play some Quake 3, and you have a headset and mic, we could play and shout at each other there - lol.

Just let me know if you want to join me there, and I will give you the necessary rank to join other channels other than the Lobby. We have it locked down for the other channels because of an incident where 3 guys from Turkey were on a lower channel and refused to respond in English.

Hi everyone:

Yesterday Rare Vos showed up on my Battlefield 3 server (thanks for playing there Vos).

If you have any opinions or suggestions about the server configuration, please post your preferences here.

It was nice to see you there, and I had fun. Hope you did also.

Just got BF3 from Origin for $30. Premium edition or something like that :) Tried playing this game on PS3 a while back and had a terrible time with the controller.

The premium edition is exactly what you need.

However, load the game late at night and let it install while you sleep, because you are in store for a massive download process, even though you may have the game on disk.

Premium adds 20 additional maps that were released in 5 different content packs over a period of time.

So the total number of maps you get with premium is 29, counting the original 9 maps that came with the original game.

Premium also adds an additional 8 modes of game play, including CTF, Air Superiority, Gun Master, Scavenger, Tank Superiority, Assault 64, Assault, and Assault #2.

It also adds new weapons for you, and vehicles, both on land and aircraft.
You can equip your soldier with many different weapons, tools, targeting equipment, spawn beacons, rocket launchers, claymores, C4, etc. The list just goes on forever.

You also have the choice to play as four different types of soldier, all with different equipment and weapons at your disposal depending on the class you choose.

These new modes of play complement the original modes, which were Conquest Large, Conquest Small, Rush, Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch Close Quarters.

This game is without a doubt the best first person team based modern war simulation I have ever played, and the possibilities for ranking up not only your character and your weapons, but also your land and air vehicles abilities are endless when playing it online.

But remember - When you first start playing it, it will take a lot of time and effort to rank up to the point where you can unlock all of the goodies.

There is a way to rank up quickly, however. Get help from your friends to accomplish your goals to unlock whatever perks you might want to use.

I would be happy to help you with this.

I was playing and saw the sun reflect off a snipers scope. Too cool. Snuck around and dropped him :)

Any way to get on the maps offline to run around and learn them.

Post subject:  Re: Update on my gaming

Not that I know, but if you join the Shadow Recon Group server when it is empty, and we both are on teamspeak in our BF3 channel I can activate any map you wish to play. Just get teamspeak 3 and join me at our clan's teamspeak and I will help you. Just let me know when you will be there, and I will make every effort to meet you there.

The information for teamspeak3 and the server are at the top of this post.

If you decide to join our clan, we will provide you with a logon and password for a great admin tool called procon frostbite that will allow you to do this for yourself.

All clan members have admin rights in our organization, and you will be added to a list of members who will have priority to join the server if it is full (which does not happen very often), since it is a 16 slot server and most hard core players like OzZ (named OzZLaW in BF3), and Rare Vos tend to gravitate to the 32 or 64 player servers. He did play a few Team Death Matches with us, though.

I established this server for the convenience of our clan members to use to practice on the various maps, and learn to fly the jets and choppers, as well as drive the ground vehicles.

However, even if you do not wish to join our clan, the offer still holds to show you the various maps and give you any advice that I can, and you are welcome to register on our website as a friend and use our teamspeak3 server.

I have BF3 on PS3, havent played it much. Playing on PC with some BG buds sounds fun though. I'll grab that premium copy soon. BFBC2 was amazing, so I assume this must be as good if not better?

It is better---by a long shot.

But it CAN be very frustrating at first when you are ranking up and most every other player is owning you---lol----many are still doing that to me.

Ask OzZ and Rare Vos.

Yessir, I had a backup. I also went to http://spyderweb.clanservers.com/anonymous/ for maps.
I tried to get into 63.211.105.70:27960 but it was cpma. Do you have a custom map server? I had no problem getting in the Vanilla Q3 server and I ping 63. My nephew wanted me to install Q3 and I got hooked again. I was amazed people are still playing :o I also go to CROM ffa 209.212.157.151:24018 or Adults Only ffa 66.160.139.213:28085
I read somewhere in the forums someone installed Q3 but it was to dark. It was for me also but I put /r_overbrightbits 0 and it works great. I also got the Orange Smoothie bright skinz to work on any server (even yours) like Quake live. If you have OSP installed just copy zz-osp-pak0.pk3 in OSP folder and paste into your baseq3 folder then in your console type /cg_enemyModel keel/pm then /cg_enemyColors iiii

Post subject:  Re: Update on my gaming

Heres a link for OSP 1.03a Full Release download http://matchlessgaming.com/ Its says to put all pk3's u just need zz-osp-pak0.pk3 in baseq3 folder. 63.211.110.56:27960 Vanilla Q3 runs great just 63.211.105.70:27960 wont let me download z-cpma-pak 148. So I did manually and it changed my menu to cpma and I didn't like so I deleted all the z-cpma-pak's and just kept the cpma maps and its back to normal. I will try again tomorrow. I should be able to open it in mods.

Post subject:  Re: Update on my gaming

Hey Twiz:

Try 63.211.110.56

That is my vanilla server that has over 320 custom maps on it.

I changed the rotation on that one to standard maps to entice more players to it and it worked. When I am in a game, I suggest going to a custom map, and I get comments from some people saying that they were amazed that the maps I choose existed - lol.

So just call a vote for a custom map: example (/callvote map bgmp1) on that server and it probably will be there. And if it isn't let me know, since I have unlimited storage on the server for them, and I can add it.

I have CPMA 1.48 on the server you went to (63.211.105.70) , but I do not have the problem with the CPMA menu over riding vanilla Q3 - when I start Q3 and join the vanilla server, I get the vanilla menu, and when I join the CPMA server I get the CPMA menu.

So, as I said, let me know when you want to play, and we can have a good time playing some of the maps we knew and enjoyed.
