This is funny, I'm sifting through all of these old files in my burialgrounds back up folder, and I come across the back up of the original Burial-Grounds forums. Remember the old "UBB" (Ultimate Bulletin Boards), the CGI based forums from around 2000 - 2003? Well, I found one of the first posts in the general discussion forums where I was asking if anyone had any suggestions for quake 3 servers. This was in February of 2000, so, a bit before any custom maps were released. 20 20 (aka 40) mentioned that there was currently only a ctf server running at burialgrounds, and he preferred FFA. I followed up with this reply: (so you can all blame 20 20 for bg becoming a FFA server ;))

Hey, I whipped up a server config for FFA, take a look and lemme know if it looks like it will be a good server.

A few things of note here, first the old burialgrounds.cjb.net domain. This was obviously before I had purchased the burial-grounds.com domain. All it did was redirect requests from cjb.net to the server I was hosting it on at the company I was working for at the time, JJA. Next note is my old way of typing my name. Man, was that a pain to type on any consistent basis. I stuck with all those characters for awhile, but I like the way I type it now. Much easier! :) You can see my old work email address in there...duh, that was stupid and was removed shortly after! How about that bad ass "DUAL" 300mhz pentium 2 server!! It even had 384MB of RAM! WOW! And lastly, you can clearly see that there are not any custom maps. My how that would change, eh?

I just love finding all these gems from the past. It's really fun digging through all of these old files. I can't belive I've had some of this stuff for over 10yrs!!!! I cant tell you how many hard drives these files have been transfered to and from. Amazing!

heh, I just clicked the old cjb.net address, the company appears to still be there, but looks like a crumby little advertising parked domain now.

It just occured to me that I have no backup of my backup. I'd hate to have that drive die without a backup of it. Looks like my next visit to bestbuy is going to have to include another network drive :)
