I just found a 20 inch lcd monitor at Best Buy to replace the 12 year old 17 inch IBM monitor I have been using for all of these years.

The difference is amazing to me, as you might imagine.

The specs are:

1600 by 900 max resolution

15,000 to 1 contrast ratio

5 ms response time

16 : 9 aspect ratio

VGA and HDMI inputs

Built in stereo speakers

Very good viewing angle

High brightness / contrast levels

Tilt base

And the BEST part, is that they are selling it for only $139.00 !!!

I think that this is the best value in an LCD monitor on the market today.

If you need a monitor, I would recommend that you get to Best Buy and get one before the sale price ends on this one!

I too switched to LCD finally this year. I got a Viewsonic 23" that does 1920 x 1200 at Costco when they sent out a deal I couldn't pass up in the member's coupon book a few months back.

So far I like it but getting all my older games to use it was a pain. Some had to be modded like DOOM2 and Quake.

I haven't tried it with Doom2 or Quake 1 yet, but Quake 3 works great on it.

However, I have played Rise of the Triad on it with no problems.

What kind of problems did you have, and what mods are you referring to?

I meant problems getting the older games to run in any 16 : 9 ratio.

For Quake I use http://dxquake.sourceforge.net

For DOOM I use http://www.zdoom.org/Download

Yes they are great intersection of price and value.

Yeah, It's kinda crazy how inexpensive the LCD's are nowadays. Even storage space prices..wow..dirt cheap. Not complaining though :)

The GF bought me a Samsung SyncMasterT220 for xmas....this thing is amazing.

2ms
20000:1
Running at 1680x1050

It was a little pricy, well over what I have seen posted here, but well worth it IMO.
