Has anyone watched the Rome series that was on HBO? Seriously, if you're an adult, you have to give this a shot. You can rent it from Netflix if you have an account. I'm totally floored by this series. Writing, acting, character development and production are better than most blockbuster movies. Also, lots of sex, full frontal nudity, violence and language. Definitely not for the kiddies.

The two season series covers the fall of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire, with a back story that follows two Roman soldiers through out the whole ordeal. The back story could be an amazing series all on it's own to be honest.

Unfortunately it ends at Season Two :( But give it a shot. You won't be dissapointed. You'll probably be like me, watching every DVD one right after the other till you run out and have to mail them back for 3 more :D

Yeah, good series.  A lot of HBO's original series are very well done.  They don't have to depend on ratings, so they don't have to dumb down everything for the lowest common denominator.

You should check out The Wire if you like Rome.  Another great HBO series, very well acted, written, and produced.

I stopped watching HBO series when they took the best series ever off the air for no good damn reason! I miss Deadwood!

I never watched Deadwood, but in the case of BSG and Rome, I think it's good that they go out on a high note, instead of being bled dry like the major networks enjoy doing with their garbage.

I'll give Deadwood a watch. Wired and Californication are on the hit list also.

Deadwood was the great. Can't say enough about it. The problem I have with them ending it so soon was that it didnt have a proper ending. The series was supposed to last longer then 3 seasons, so the end of the third season has cliff hangers and loose ends. I forget exactly what happened, but the 4th season never happened, and there was supposed to be some mini-series event to tie it altogether, but that isnt going to happen either I guess. Oh well, still worth watching all 3 seasons if you get the chance.

Mr. Hearst was about to get killed by Al Swearengen and Swearengen's  top guy had already killed Hearst's top guy in a street fight. The doc had become sick with hepatitis or something, there was a ton of open unfinished stuff going on.

I loved Deadwood, except for the proper English. Although it doe show how the language may have changed into the American slang I just have a hard time believing that men of such uncivilized times where that sophisticated.

Other than that the righting was top notch. And that's probably just me.

The dialog is what made deadwood great. Best ever for any show, period.
