Post subject:  Demo Problems? Some Answers Here!

K, so I'm sure there are plenty of people who did not get a chance to play the beta who are just now downloading and starting to play the demo. As with the beta, there are some problems you will likely run in to. I hope to cover some of those problems here, and will update this thread as I find more.

First, as mentioned in my news post, ATI users must update their drivers to the latest version (7.9 or later). Grab them [link=http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx]from here[/link]. This is not optional, you can not play the demo without these drivers.

Next up, if you are receiving this error:

FATAL ERROR: Image '_default' was generated with internal format 0x83f0 but GL returned 0x83f2

You need to probably need to uninstall any unofficial tweak type drivers and install official nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com. The alternative to removing those "unofficial drivers" is to follow these steps (as provided by Herr_Doktor in official community forums):

* Download, install, and run RivaTuner
* In the "Driver Settings" section of the "Main" tab, click the triangle button next to "Customize..."
* Choose the OpenGL button from the pop-out bar
* On the "Rendering quality" tab, uncheck the "Compress to DXT3 instead of DXT1" box.
* Click the [OK] buttons until RivaTuner closes
* Restart your computer and enjoy ET:QW!

Dual Monitor Fix:
If you are running dual monitors, it's possible you will get severe lag in the game which can be fixed fairly easily through the nvidia control panel. Ensure you have the control panel in advanced view mode and follow these instructions:

In the nvidia control panel click 3d settings then click manage 3d settings.
In the Global Settings tab, scroll down to the Multi-display/mixed-GPU Acceleration option.
In the drop down change the option from "Multiple Display Performance mode" to "Single Display Performance Mode".

This problem can occur even if you do not use dual displays. Check your nvidia control panel and make the changes above if you experience problems.

I'll add more to this soon.
