file complaint option is very ghey !
map is way too small for this type of game play, ghey again !
vehicles drive way too silly and the strogg walker has no go fast button like the rest of them, ghey !
menu is really ghey !

NECROSIS:

Did you pre-order the game?

I had the same problem, so my name is now |BGC|SPYDER1944 in the beta.

I am thinking that maybe they are looking at what was chosen by the people who chose their names in advance for the pre-orders, and not letting any beta players use them.

I did preorder Spyder... so i guess that could be it... blotto says he got the name though so who knows.

BTW GGs clown boy :) looking forward to teh positive feedback :P

I doubt the pre-order and the beta are tied together in anyway shape or form. Probably just bad luck Nec. I got Finko and that's what I reserved for the retail as well.

So, don't expect any xp or rewards you gather during BETA to roll over to retail either :p

That's correct, the names reserved for the final game have no bearing on which name you can select for beta, as everything will be wiped for final.

Well when I first dropped in I felt the urge to just run in full speed and see how quick I could die ( Sounds funny huh?) I was on the Strogg side and picked covert ops and to my surprize had a railgun yeah I know I didn't read anything before hand I wanted it all to be new kinda. so I tried to make a few kills with the rail and figured out I couldn't run and gun with it like in q3. I then switched over to Field Ops and had a blast with their version of the air strike ( much better then the GDF's i might add) Over all it's going to get some used to but i think i have finally found a reason to upgrade my system :)

My Photoshop isn't opening the TGA's correctly. If anyone needs a decent TGA viewer I found one called XnView on download.com. Free and all. Pretty nice program.

Thanks :) Can't figure out how that auto-thumbnail thing worked that we used to have here before.

Here are a couple more. First shot is an incoming missile (Hammer?). The second shot, 1 second later and 3XP richer, it's blown out of the sky.

BTW the netcode isn't perfect in the beta - if someone is moving really fast you will need to aim ahead of them - with fixed prediction you shouldn't need to (there should be a patch for it soon).

Any one playing this on a wide screen lcd monitor and if so how does it look/play? I have the Dell 24" and I'm wondering if my bfg 7950 is going to be able to play this at the native resolution.

[quote1182737531=NECROSIS]The user names not being changeable is just lazy on their part... Steam does it, you login with your user name and you can set your alias to anything you want.[/quote1182737531]

I too like that you can't change your name. Thus, it was just a wonderful feeling to get called a bastard by "Toddh" and know it was the real Toddh. I just wish I'd screenshotted that - at the time though, I didn't know you couldn't change your name and figured it was just some jerkoff using the name... so I didn't think there was any value in screenshotting it.

I play at 1280x800 windowed on my 1440x900 widescreen laptop display, with a 6800/256MB, and it plays decently. Not great framerates, but since I seldom get into firefights (I play with a touchpad anyways) I don't care about framerates too much. From the benchmarks I was seeing at AMDZone (see the BG front page for a link) I'm not sure your 7950 is going to be able to handle a 24" widescreen at full screen native res. You might want to consider a windowed widescreen mode... the benefit to windowed mode is that you can ALT+TAB to other applications with ease if need be :)

Yes, xnview is/was great. I really started having weird issues with it awhile back, so I started using [link=http://www.faststone.org/]FastStone Image Viewer[/link]. I like it a little more then XnView, so I havent gone back. Both are definitely worth a look.
