and I just registered my name! w00t!

It's funny how clueless the clerks behind the register at Gamestop were though. After I finished paying for the preorder, I'm standing there waiting for the clerk to give me my preorder kit with the game cards, mini poster and most importantly, the Registration Code for my username, and he's like..."ok, have a nice day"

I'm thinking to myself, hm...did I miss something? OH yah, where is my kit. "hey, where is my preorder kit with my registration code"

clerk1 " huh? What's that?"
clerk1 to clerk2 "you know anything about this preorder kit thing for this um...quake wars game?"
clerk2 "huh? What? er...I dunno...what's that?"
clerk1 "this guy says he needs some registration code thing or something?"
clerk2 "oh, hm...well, look around for the box with the promotion kits and cupons and stuff..."
clerk1 "hm, what's that? I dunno where that is"
clerk2 "I dunno, look around under the register or something"
clerk1 "oh, ok...ah, here it is"

Meanwhile, I'm like WTF is going on here? Am I the only guy to preorder this game from these guys or what? I've seen some posts on other forums where people are like "when do I get my registration code and my cards and poster and stuff"...now I'm wondering if they had similar clueless clerks taking their preorder and not giving them the kit.

Anyway...make sure you get your kit if you preorder from Gamestop! :)

BTW, I heard a rumor the Quake Wars demo could be out May 4. Not sure how much credibility is behind it, but it's something to look forward too...

I have had the same problem, but multiplied by about a factor of 4.
I want to pre-order the Limited Collector's Edition.
The boxes that Gamestop has, that look like DVD cases, are for the standard edition of the game.
In a previous post, I commented that I have had to contact Gamestop numerous times through emails and, phone, and in person to try to get this fixed. They originally said that they did not have an SKU for the Collectors edition in their database.
Yesterday, i was at Best Buy, and I noticed that they have a pre-order version in a cardboard box that looks just like the retail boxed version of the game, and has a notation that it is good for pre-ordering either version of the game.
So, back I went to Gamestop, and inquired about my order with them, and the clerk told me that I was still going to get the standard version, and asked me if I wanted to convert it to the Limited Edition, which is something that one of their managers told me two weeks ago, that they would take care of for me automatically.
So, if anybody wants the Limited Edition of the game, I would suggest they go to Best Buy to pre-order it. You might save yourself a lot of frustration.

When the clerk rang me up, he did ask if I wanted the Limited Edition...which, I didnt see any need for, but appreciated the fact that he did ask. If I change my mind and decide to get the limited edition though, you can bet I'll blame the clerk for ringing me up with the wrong version and demand I get the right one before I leave the store ;)

Best Buy had no clue and they where not available at the store yet so I was waiting in line at GameStop looking around and noticed a whole stack of pre-order boxes right on the counter, yay made it easy. Went smooth.
So will the regular version have like 8 cd's versus the Limited Edition having 1 DVD and 1 bonus DVD or something crazy like that ? Guess we will have to wait for that info....

Well, I REALLY hope you're right about the May 4th demo. I won't get my hopes up, but I have a 3 day lan party to attend around the middle of the month and that would be awesome.

I got my pre-order in a couple of weeks ago at a EB Games here in Ottawa. The guys there were knoledgeable and knew what it was all about. But when I got home and went online to register my nick was when it got confusing. Apparently your nick is only given a "place holder" right now. An email was sent to me with a final registration link which can only be used after you buy the game. When you buy the game, you have to go back to your nick place holder link and finalize the registration by inputting the numerical key from the game discs. I would assume that this should be done asap when the game is bought to avoid losing the place holder to somebody else. But I guess it cuts down on the peeps who register nicks but don't buy the game.

Yah Q_B, I'm assuming that there will be a grace period once the game is released for you to click on that link and your nickname will be secured. I dont think anyone else can steal your nick without having that confirmation link. However, I'm sure after a couple of months or so, those links will expire and anyone will be able to use the nicks that were reserved but not actually used.
