Post subject:  GRINDHOUSE opens today

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez present two films in one feature length movie: GRINDHOUSE. Looks like a hoot to me.

Opie and Anthony had Freddy and Robert Rodriquez, Tarantino, and Kirt Russell in studio last week to promote this thing. Sounds super cool. I haven't been to a movie theatre in a very long time. This will probably drag me out though :)

3 Hour double feature with fake trailers in between, lol. Awesome idea!

And did I mention Rose McGowan? oh man..

Are you really going to be able to pull yourself away from WoW long enough to watch a 3hr movie?

I will most likely go tonight.... can see it at the drive-thru for six bucks... along with any movie that plays afterwards. \m/ \m/

I will let ch'all know, but I am pretty impartial with action flicks. But always get my money's worth....

yeah, I think I'll manage :D

Only thing that keeps me playing WoW, is a lack of anything better to play. Like a friend said, I think we got spoiled with Q2 and Q3 :)

I am hoping that id can pull this one off, and make the game as good as Wolf ET is, with the addition of great visuals.
They really screwed up by not hiring the people at Splash Damage, and selling the game for a reasonable price, as an add on to Castle Wolfenstein.
Look at all of the millions of players that game has hosted, and is still hosting today, and all for free!

Oh, and as for the movie, I think i will wait for the DVD to be released, also. The previews look like it will be fun to watch.

Yes they are. What I was trying to say is that if id had realised how popular the Wolf ET add on for Castle Wolfenstein was going to be, they could have made a lot of money by hiring the developers to release it as an add on to the game. Even if they had charged 10 dollars for each download, think of the money that would have been been made for id and Splash Damage at the time it was released. Maybe they could have gone back to the old system that id pioneered, by releasing one part of it as shareware, with a charge for downloading the full version.
I am happy, of course, that it was free, and that now id has recognised Splash Damage as being a worthy group of people to work on their newest release.

Spyder, ET was supposed to be an official retail addon for Wolfenstien. id hired Splash Damage to do the work on ET, but decided to drop the production of the addon, but instead of just letting it die, the packaged up what was finished and released it to the public as a free download.
id recognized SD long before then though, with their work on the Quake 3 Fortress (Q3F) mod, and other freelance work they did for other companies. This will be the first big partnership with the two companies, but it's got a much longer history I think.
I might not have all the fact straight, but it's pretty close to that :)

Tiny bit more history on that. Mad Doc Software was going to do the SP side of the addon and Splash Damage was going to do the MP side of it. The SP side fell through for one reason or another and Splash Damage was sitting there with a pretty much complete MP game.

One could also argue that would it have the following it had if they wanted people to pay for it?

It is pretty good, if you can get used to shooting at someone while you are upside down.
